Cell phones and mobile devices

Cellular phones and mobile internet devices are considered unauthorized aids during a test or exam, even if they are not used. Penalties for using a smart phone or internet device as an aid can be severe. Faculty should make students aware of this policy before beginning any test or exam. Devices should be stored with other valuables during an exam, or left with a friend outside the exam room or in a personal locker. Students writing exams who unexpectedly find they have a device in their possession should not handle it, and should alert the invigilator as soon as possible.
